Albany County DA David Soares is running for reelection this November. An audit by the Albany County Comptroller asserts that thousands of dollars are missing from an evidence safe.
The audit marks the first time Albany County Comptroller Michael Conners has examined the use of criminal forfeiture money by the district attorney's office. The accounting review included an audit of petty cash accounts and a surprise inspection of an antiquated safe containing approximately $65,000 in cash seized from criminal cases spanning decades.
That inspection led to the most startling assertion from Conners' review: Between $5,000 and $7,000 appears to be missing from the safe. The money was contained in various envelopes associated with criminal cases and disappeared sometime after a January 2005 state audit was done.
This audit is likely to grow legs and make reelection difficult for Soares.

SquareState.net makes some interesting points about Henry Paulson’s former job as CEO of Goldman Sachs and the bailout package.
That's right. US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson made $116 Million from '03-'06 selling this garbage as CEO of Goldman Sachs. US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson is also Bush's guy asking for the $700 Billion bailout. Paulson is also the guy who lobbied to eliminate regulation as CEO of Goldman Sachs--a policy that last Friday Bush SEC Chairman Christoper Cox categorized bluntly: "Voluntary regulation does not work". Can it really be coincidence that of the

The Business Pudit writes about the financial bailout bill. The House should vote this morning and the Senate should vote Wednesday.
A few key points not listed in the summary I quoted below:
-The golden parachutes clause is pretty subjective. Not everyone gets their chute lines cut. In fact, it looks like the richest parachuters *really* don’t get their lines cut (see the full draft to see what I mean).
-Hank Paulson is pretty much God, or at least a de facto President, until the economy gets back on its feet. The plan doesn’t include specific steps on how to implement its points. Paulson and a team chosen by him come up with those steps. The plan is just an outline.
-The money acquired from stock sold by the government in the name of the zombie corporations will be used to pay off the national debt. Am I missing something here? Shouldn’t that money be going back into programs like Hope for Homeowners, which the bill touts?
Here’s a copy of the summary found on financialservices.house.gov. The full version and a more detailed summary can also be found on speaker.house.gov and financialservices.house.gov
This just seems like a bad idea. The CEOs still walk away with millions from the companies they ran into the ground.

An emailer sent this link to a You Tube about John McCain and the war. It’s rather sobering.

Apparently about a month ago John McCain had trouble stating the number of houses he owns. I can not fathom this, but than again I was not cursed with marrying a multi-millionaire. Leave it to a blogger to try and figure out all of McCain’s real estate – including addresses and photos to help the presidential candidate keep track of his houses.

Really?! Vito running for his old congressional seat? Is he really that arrogant that he thinks the voters want him back? He should stop listening to that small circle of insiders that are encouraging him to run.
Republican Robert Straniere, who's running for Rep. Vito Fossella's seat, was nominated as a Manhattan judicial candidate last night - a move that could pave the way for the disgraced congressman to get back on the ballot and run for re-election.
Several Republican sources said the New York County GOP made the nomination with the understanding that Straniere would accept it.
Straniere is the big winner in this one.

Assemblyman Greg “Woogie” Ball once again shows his prowess with women. The League of Women Voters ruled yesterday that another Woogie mailer contains more lies.
I am completely shocked that a stalker would lie.

Andrew Cuomo is getting greater national attention with McCain stating that he would like to see Andrew Cuomo head up the SEC. Cuomo has big plans up his sleeve.

Seven days ago I emailed Michelle Malkin at The Post asking her the difference between photoshopped vampires. She seems ok with The Post changing Silver into a vampire but not a magazine changing McCain into one.
I still have not received a response. Shocking isn’t it?
